Company History

Gray & Company, Inc. was founded in 1948 by Denver F. Gray. Denver Gray recognized that the insurance market needed an insurance program that could respond to the exposures of the offshore oil and gas industry with its overlapping combination of state and Federal jurisdictions and complex contractual arrangements.

In response to this need, Gray and Company, Inc. developed a casualty package that combines coverage for General Liability, Automotive Liability and Workers Compensation under one program.

The Company operated for many years as the underwriting manager for various unaffiliated insurance companies. The Gray Insurance Company grew out of these underwriting activities. The Company was incorporated under the laws of Louisiana and received its certificate of authority from the Louisiana State Department of Insurance in 1977.

Delta Title Corporation proudly serves homeowners and businesses in the Louisiana area with real estate closings and title insurance.

The Gray Casualty & Surety Company distributes bonds through contract surety agents principally for classes of business which include both General Contractors and Sub-Contractors. The Company is not a market for fidelity bonds.

The Gray Exploration Company participates in projects exploring for and producing oil and gas reserves.

The Gray Oil & Gas Company invests in royalties from oil and gas producing properties.

Verlander Corporation is the property management company for Gray & Company Inc.
